Eight instructors, twenty young pipers and drummers were signed up at the information meeting. The first practice was held the following Thursday.

Our first season started with individual competitors in the BC Pipers’ mini-meets. Remembrance Day, 2000 was our first parade.

In two years, we have competed in most of the Highland Gatherings in the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island and Washington State.

In September, 2002, we expanded to include a Grade V band. This allows us to encourage beginning musicians without holding back the more experienced and advanced people. It also gives us a rich opportunity to include leadership and mentoring into our Grade IV band members.

The focus of the Fraser Valley Youth Pipe Band is on providing a positive experience in a supportive atmosphere. Our instructors volunteer their teaching time which keeps fees low and builds our dedicated ‘family’ atmosphere
